Brisbane is well known for its Gold Coast. Gold Coast is situated 90 kilometers south of Brisbane connected by an 8-lane highway. The beautiful beaches in Gold Coast are located from Couran Cove in the north to Rainbow Bay in the south.

The most famous beach in Gold Coast is the Surfers’ Paradise. The waves are soft rolling type and it’s good for beginners to take up surfing. There are café and shopping centers along the 3 kilometer long beach.

For serious surfers, Burleigh Heads offers nice waves for surfing. You can find world class surfers practicing surfing on Burleigh Heads as it hosts many international surfing competitions here.

Besides the famous Gold Coast in the south of Brisbane, Brisbane has many other beaches to offer up north at Sunshine Coast Sunshine Coast has many nice beaches such as Caloundra, Mooloobala, Coolum and Noosa.

Caloundra beach is nearest to Brisbane and it’s suitable for family picnics. There are facilities for family activities like barbeque pits, children playground, boating, skiing, fishing and swimming.

In Noosa, the water temperature is ood for swimming the whole year round compared to Gold Coast which is cold in winter. Besides Noosa Main Beach, there is Noosa River which offers calm water which is perfect for kids and family.

Since there are two great beaches north and south of Brisbane, accommodation in Brisbane is very much sought after. Hotels in Brisbane do offer travel packages to visit these wonderful beaches in Brisbane. For those who are looking for budget travel, there are cheap hotels in Brisbane as well.

Besides the beaches, Brisbane do have many theme parks which are suitable for families like Dreamworld, Sea World, Warner Brothers Movie World and Wet ‘n’ Wild Water World.

When I visited Sydney, I opted for Sydney Pass 5-day ticket to travel around Sydney to visit all the places of interest. Sydney Pass provides a very attractive value-packed combination of the very best of Sydney in a single package. The 3-day, 5-day or 7-day Sydney Pass offers unlimited travel on Sydney Explorer and Bondi Explorer buses, AirportLink train and ferries. It also offers discount to places of interest in Sydney.

With Sydney Pass, I planned for my visit the the places of interest into four groups.

Group one is the vicinity of Circular Quay like Sydney Opera House, The Rocks, Sydney Aquarium, Mrs Macquiries Chair plus a host of places within walking distance like Queen Victoria Building and Chinatown.

The second group is to cover places in the city which is far to walk but must visit like Hyde Park, Kings Cross, Woolloomooloo Bay and Museum of Sydney.  The places in the first and second group are covered by Sydney Explorer bus which is red in color.

The third group is to cover the areas opposite of Circular Quay, which are accessible by State Ferry, to see places like Manly, Luna Park, Parramatta and Taronga Zoo. I also used the State Ferry to enjoy the sceneries of Sydney Habor during the day and also, at night. This is the cheapest way of having a cruise without pay anything extra as it’s already included in Sydney Pass. A trip to Manly and a stroll along the beach will remind you of Gold Coast in Brisbane. To me, Manly is like a mini Gold Coast. A journey along the Parramatta River gives you the sight of houses and yacht of the rich people along the river. The ferry will bring you till the end of Parramatta River which you can get off and take a train back, if you like.

The fourth group covers the beaches and bays along Sydney eastern suburbs, Rushcutter Bay, Double Bay, Rose Bay Wharf, Watson’s Bay and Bondi Beach. The Bondi Explorer bus covers this area and its appropriately colored blue.

The buses run continuously throughout the day from morning till evening. I can hop on and hop off as often as I like as long as I have the Sydney Pass tickets. The bus route also passes along many hotels in Sydney.

There are many types of accommodation in Sydney depending on our budget. Hotels around the Circular Quay and The Rocks are expensive. There are also cheap hotels in Sydney on areas around Chinatown. It’s all depends on your choice and budget.
