The title of this beautiful song, composed by Wilhelm Grosz in 1930’s, is a small little island in the Gulf of Naples. This island is famous for its natural beauty and landscape. I traveled to this island from Sorrento via a ferry. Alternatively, one can also travel to Isle of Capri from Naples.

Besides this beautiful song, which made Isle of Capri very famous, there is a James Bond movie, Dr No, which was shot at this island in 1960’s. The cars used in the movie are now an attraction and they ferry tourists around the island.

From the port at Marina Grande, I took a funicular train up to Capri Centre. The journey was about 5 minutes and it’s worth the money. From the funicular train, I could see the spectacular view of the Gulf Of Naples, Sorrento, Naples and Mount Vesuvius.  Capri centre is at the middle of the hill. This is where all the hotels, shops and restaurants are. Tourists will stay at Capri centre.

From Capri centre, I took a public bus to the hill top town, Anacapri. The short journey to the top was very interesting. The road was narrow and to allow traffic from opposite direction to pass though was a big task for the bus driver.

At Anacapri, I visited San Michele, the home of Swedish doctor and writer Axel Munthe. The house is located at a nice location with very nice panoramic view. After visiting this house, I took a chairlift ride up to Monte Solare, the highest point in Isle of Capri to enjoy a 360-degree view of the whole island and its surroundings.

The main attraction of Isle of Capri is a very island itself. I spend my time strolling around the island visiting places of interest, which are mostly within walking distances. There is no real need to depend on public transport.

Isle of Capri is famous of its Limoncello, a lemon liqueur, as an after-dinner drink. This famous drink is produced using lemons grown on this island. Be warned, this is a strong drink.

One of the main attractions of Isle of Capri is the Grotta Azzurra or Blue Grotto. This small little grotto is not an easy place to visit. It depends on your luck. The opening of the grotto is very small and if the sea is rough and choppy, you cannot even get close to it to enter the grotto. Well, I was not lucky enough to get in. I will definitely return to try my luck again.

Instead, I took a round the island boat trip that I highly recommend as it was a very nice and scenic trip. I get to see Isle of Capri from the sea as oppose to seeing the sea from the top of Monte Solare.

The next day, I took a ferry from Isle of Capri to Naples to continue my journey to Rome.

For National Geographic to name Poipu Beach as the best beach in America simply means that it has so much to offer. Poipu Beach is popular due to its excellent climate, nice beach, wide range of activities which cater for everyone and its many choices of accommodations there.

The abundant activities like sailing, kayaking, scuba, skiing, snorkeling and diving are among the many water sports activities tourists can do at the Poipu Beach. Tourists can easily rent these sports facilities from any of the Poipu vacation homes or hotels there.

For those who prefer land activities, there are two championship golf course to choose from, horseback riding, hiking, biking or even fishing. Poipu has a very nice 4 miles hiking trail along the coastal line of Mahaulepu Beach or go biking or hiking along the 10 mile Koloa Heritage Trail.

Poipu Beach is also an excellent place for family vacation and also, as a location of choice for honeymooning. Couples can have their wedding, honeymoon or even renew their marriage vows under the nice and sunny Poipu Beach.

Tourists who are spending their vacation in Poipu Beach can stay in one of the many Poipu condos or even rent one of the Poipu vacation rentals. These accommodations are located at the Kauai’s sunny south side along Poipu Beach and they offer various choices of homes ranging from single room to multiple rooms homes.

Travelling through the state of Georgia in east coast of America, one of the most scenic and romantic stop is the Jekyll Island. It’s one of the many Golden Isles of Georgia. The beaches are often frequented by picnikers and tourists seeking for their ultimate travel experience. There are many trails for hiking and biking, sandbars and Summer Waves, a water theme park, for tourists to enjoy themselves.

 The Jekyll Island has many 19th century buildings. One of the most famous builiding is the Jekyll Island Club which start in 1885. Jekyll Island Club offers the best romantic getaway in Georgia where many couples and honeymooners spend their vacation. It also offers excellent wedding package, dining and meeting facilities. It has one of the best golf course on the east coast of America.

The environment of Jekyll Island is managed by its own Jekyll Island Authority who is responsible for operations and well being of the island. The island has a Historic District which is registered with the National Historic Landmark. By legislative mandate, sixty five percent of the island is and will remain undeveloped, and left in its natural state.

Jekyll Island Club is famous for the scene from the show “The Legend of Baggar Vance” starring Will Smith and Matt Damon. In this movie, we can see the beautiful scenery for this island and its famous club.
